Guard Pass: No Gi

Passing the guard without the gi is basically the same as with the gi but there are slight differences

Starting postured up in the guard....

1. Your right hand is extended straight out on your opp's throat, almost like you are choking him

2. Your left hand in on your opp's hip blocking him from being able to arm bar you, if he can not lift his hips it is very easy for you to escape- Make sure to keep your elbow inside of his thigh

3. Step up your right foot (or the foot on the same side that is holding his neck) and turn your knee inward, that puts pressure on his hips

4. Turn your other toes outward on a 45 degree angle on your ball of foot then step that knee up

You are now standing up with your left leg back and your right knee driving into you opp's hip...

5. Slide the hand that was on his throat down to his hip (you can hold his shorts if you want) Make sure to keep your elbow inside of his thigh! This blocks him for turning his knee across your stomach to stop the pass

6. Pump his knee down with your other hand to open his guard

7. Drop down; driving your left knee across his leg passing the guard, at the same time your right hand underhooks his left leg and your left hand overhooks his opposite shoulder.....Pass to side mount.
