As you are going for this gi choke http://tricksterbjj.blogspot.com/2008/03/back-mount-gi-choke.html if your opp is holding onto your wrist too tight and you can not finish the choke...
1. Unlock your leg that is on the same side of your top arm (the choking arm) - Lean back and bring that leg up and over your opp's shoulder using your HEEL to push down on his wrist! After you push it down, you want to use your leg to lock that arm (crucifix posistion)
2. Your other arm now pulls his other arm back (completely the crucifix)
You can now finish the gi choke without any resistance! To make the choke even tighter you can take your hand that is holding his arm and slide it behind is neck and push his neck forward.
