When you are on the bottom of the half guard with your inside leg wrapped over your opp's inside leg...so your outside leg is free (unlike the lockdown position)
1. Get your entire body free to the outside of your opp. To do this you will have to swim your head under your opp's arm. It is easiest to do this when you have double underhooks! Your whole body needs to be free so you can sit up...if any of your opp's weight on top of you, you will not be able to sit up
2. Once you have gotten all the way to the outside. SIT UP! Make sure to keep pressure down on your opp's back with your inside hand or your opp may take your back!!
3. Reach down and grab your opp's foot by the toes with your left hand
4. Pull it straight up! This puts a lot of pressure on your opp's calve and eventually will do damage to the knee. Once you have the lock you can also use your right hand to pull on his foot bc now your opp can not get your back
You can also use your free foot push on your foot that is across the back of your opp's knee. This will ensure that your shin stays deep in the bend of your opp's knee
